The movement progression program is based around the key movements of the body: push, pull, hang, twist, squat, bend, crawl, walk, run & sprint. The program integrates various disciplines martial arts, yoga, dance, gymnastics, body building, physical therapy, athletic conditioning & weight lifting. All of these disciplines have training techniques that develop mobility, stability & strength.
In 2008 Aaron Mckenzie began working with Anthony Minichiello. Anthony came to Aaron with multiple problems that limited his performance. He had had 2 spinal surgeries, done physiotherapy and seen a long list of specialists. Unfortunately no one had taken the time to get him to rebuild himself with a healthy lifestyle and basic movement patterns. Anthony and Aaron began the journey that would take Anthony from being in a career ending de-conditioned state into performing at the highest physical level. Anthony’s reconditioning program did not contain anything amazing other than consistent work on the basics as outlined in the progression movement program. Over an ~ 6 month period of hard work on Nourishment, Movement & Recovery Anthony progressed his movement capacity to a brand new level. Anthony got back on the field and has since continually improved his health and performance.
Anthony and Aaron both planned to share Anthony’s journey to the world after his retirement as it is so important for trainers to have the basic movement tools to improve the health & fitness of their clients. This material is based on a simple and practical progressional path.
The movement progression program consists of:
2 day intensive training with Anthony & Aaron
Saturday 11am – 7pm Sunday 7am – 5pm (includes organic meals Saturday lunch Sunday breakfast and lunch)
10hrs of online video lessons (whole progression program on video to be viewed before and after the 2 day intensive)
Comprehensive 120 page pdf manual.
6months of online coaching via video submission assessment from Anthony & Aaron
14 cec’s through Fitness Australia for registered fitness professionals.
The learning objectives of the program are:
- learn how to use the movement progression program to mobilise, stabilise and strengthen movement patterns.
- learn movement progressions for the beginner to the advanced.
- learn how to design effective individual & small group movement programs.
These learning outcomes are the goal of the course for each student. The progression program is designed to make its students into successful trainers using the program to effectively progress individuals to achieve their training goals. The program is used to coach individuals then progress them into small training groups or remain 1 on 1 clients. Being able to progress from any level is what makes a trainer successful at their work.
1 on 1 progression into group training is what the world of group training is in desperate need of. The majority of group training limits training progression and also makes trainers appear unprofessional as their hard work does not translate into the potential results for clients. This program seeks to improve the ability of small group training and encourage more individual training in the industry either as a starting point or in conjunction with group training. We are all individuals with individual needs.
In order to apply the material trainers need to tap into the goals of individual clients to help them relate movement to their health & fitness goals. The general population have the basic goals of optimising body composition & improving the overall aesthetics of the body. These goals although seemingly superficial are achieved through a healthy lifestyle including movement. There is now a greater need for health based movement training meaning that clients are genuinely focused on feeling better. Finding out what the individuals main goals are is the easiest way to tap into motivation and maintain it.
Living by example is the best way to help clients showing them not just telling them. Helping clients understand how to achieve results and making the training part of their life is the easiest way to create lasting change and build intrinsic motivation. Once intrinsic motivation is achieved coaching begins rather than just motivating.
